Domtar Third Quarter Results

Domtar says good productivity and lower costs drove solid results for the third quarter of the year.

The company is reporting net earnings of $11-million for the Q3 period.

Sales were $1.3-billion.

Chief Executive Officer John Williams says they had a good operating performance in Pulp and Paper and they saw strong paper shipments.

Operating income was $89-million and was boosted by lower raw material costs, a favourable exchange rate, lower freight costs and lower administrative expenses.
