It’s turning out to be one of the quietest starts to the forest fire season on record.
The Ministry of Natural Resources remains in a holding pattern.
However, Fire Response Specialist Rick Payne says the slow start doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be a quiet season.
Payne notes previous years with heavy snow and a late spring have ended up being their busiest seasons.
Payne stresses people can’t become complacent and notes we could be in a serious fire situation in no time at all.
