Dorothy Lillian Alberts was born June 12, 1929 to John and Rosetta Alberts in Deloraine Manitoba.
On October 28, 2010 in the Dryden Regional Health Center, she lay surrounded by love as the Lord received her back in his loving arms.
She was no stranger to hard work as she learned at an early age the art of survival through helping her parents and siblings farm, garden and hunt.
She married Thomas Alberts on March 7, 1947 and together they built their family home on the corner of Highway 601 and Ski Hill Road. There they raised their 3 children Larry, Marilen and Marvin.
Her love of life was evident in all she did and her family was most important. She had a special passion for cooking and preparing family meals and it was very important to her to be able to share this with her children and grandchildren. She spent many hours teaching them one on one whatever they wanted to learn. She loved the outdoors, animals, birds and attending to the flowers and trees. Her door was always open to family and friends.
She is survived by her companion Dave Kowalchuk, her son Larry, daughter Marilen and son Marvin (Linda). She is also survived by her grandson Richard; granddaughters Rhonda (Dan), Tracy (Curt) and Sharman (Kyle); great granddaughters Kaitlyn and Stephanie; great grandsons Brandon, Dylan, Joshua, Alexander, Cameron and Daniel; several nieces and nephews and her brother Harold.
Also surviving are her extended family through Dave; stepdaughter Shirley (Mike); stepsons Mytro and John; grandsons Joey (Shauna) and Ashton; granddaughters Emma, Brianne, Brook and great grandchildren Madison and Tyler.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1980; brothers John, Thomas, Fred, James, Robert and William; sisters Mabel, Mary, Myrtle and Florence; infant son, infant daughter and her companion Gordon Hutchison.
Pallbearers Clifford Smith, Mike Notte, Larry Thain, Randy Vandenberghe, Ed Wilson and Hugo Schwarz carried Dorothy to her final resting at Dryden Cemetery.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, November 1st, at 11:00 a.m. in First United Church with Pastor Doug Brown officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery.
