Not everyone supported his views or accepted his opinion but he will
go down as one of the leaders in public health in Ontario.
The Region’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Pete Sarsfield has
announced his retirement effective this December.
The 62-year-old Sarsfield says he’s starting to feel a bit weary and
believes its time for a change.
He also wants to spend more time on his second career as a writer.
Sarsfield has been recognized at several levels for his crusade against
second hand smoke and for the implementation of the Ontario Smoke-Free Act.
The search for a replacement is underway.
