The first phase of the Dryden Recreation Expansion and Modification Committee work has been completed.
Work at the Memorial Arena included the installation of sliding doors, cosmetic upgrades in the main lobby and improvements to the washrooms.
Janice Radburn was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday and she says the community has been very supportive.
Radburn notes they have formed solid partnerships with all user groups.
There will be an official ceremony recognizing the work Saturday morning at 11:00 at the Arena.
Radburn adds they have some plans and ideas for the Summer to continue their campaign to renovate the Arena.
The next step is a complete overhaul of the dressing rooms.
Meantime, a major fundraiser for the DREAM Committee is set to take place this weekend at the Arena.
14 teams from across the region are scheduled to take part in the first ever 3-on-3 Girls Minor Hockey Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
Organizer Ed Trist was also on the CKDR Morning Show and says his executive decided to host the event to raise the profile of girls hockey in the community as well as raise money for arena upgrades.
Trist says it’s also in memory of girls hockey advocate and arena staff member Brad West.
Players from across the region are taking part in the Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions.
