An upset for Mayor in Machin.
Pundits were expecting another pitched battle between incumbent Gord Dingman and political veteran Garry Parkes, but in the end newcomer Drew Myers came out of nowhere to win the top municipal job.
Myers says he was even surprised but stresses he’s excited and ready to move the community forward in a new direction.
He is pleased with the new Council and notes it strikes a perfect balance with a wide range of expertise.
Myers says his first priority is developing the economic development plan that he ran on.
Myers will be joined on Council by Gord Griffiths, Ronald Kujansuu, Joe Ruete and Linda Anderson.
Anderson is the only new face for Councillor.
