The Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police began an investigation last Friday into a female person travelling through the Sioux Lookout airport transporting illegal drugs.
At approximately 1pm a Community Drug Action Team member and the Northwest Region Crime Unit attended the airport as a part of the investigation.
As a result of that investigation, two females were arrested and charged. Ophelia Mackay and Rita Petawanick both of Weagamow were charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance – oxycodone. As a result of the incident, drugs estimated to have a street value of over $3200 were seized.
