The City of Dryden is being asked to eliminate smoking in all public places including Bars.
3 University students want Council to change the current bylaw that prohibits smoking in any workplace that allows people under the age of 19.
Alana Miller says stats show that second hand smoke is a proven health hazard.
Miller asked why Dryden Bars are allowed to let 75% of the patrons suffer because the other 25% want to light up inside.
Matthew Gereben attends the University of Manitoba where has says a complete ban is in place which doesn’t cause a problem for smokers.
Council says the request will be considered in future deliberations however the trio say they left City Hall frustrated with the apparent lack of action.
Several big markets including Toronto have introduced a total ban ahead of an expected move by the Province to go smoke-free by 2006.
