Dryden CAO Defending Snow Clearing Efforts

The complaints are piling up as high as the snow but the City of Dryden says it’s doing everything it can to clear the streets in a timely fashion.
Chief Administrative Officer Andre Larabie says staff and council hear the concerns of residents and businesses loud and clear.
Larabie says we haven’t seen a dump of snow like this in years and crews are doing their best to keep up with it and clear area streets.
He notes snow removal has to occur during set times due to the current collective bargaining agreement with unionized employees.
Larabie notes that’s why snow clearing isn’t done overnight and says that clause will be revisited with the union at an “appropriate time”.
Larabie says the downtown core is on top of the priority list and Public Works has been instructed to ensure snow is removed from the area.
He says they want to ensure that the roads will be cleared in time for the annual Dryden Kinsmen Christmas Parade.
Secondary roads will be addressed once clearing efforts end on the primary roads.
