Dryden city council rejects increased tailgating options

Dryden city council is saying no to expanding tailgating options.

The province recently approved bring you own booze to cultural and community outdoor events.

Councillor Michelle Price says she’s concerned with the liability of allowing alcohol and more events.

“As fun as tailgate parties are, if you’ve never been to one, they do get out of control,” Price told council recently at its open meeting.

“The big question is liability. Like, who is responsible if someone gets hurt, or any incidents that could happen or any occurrence that could happen.”

Councillor Ritch Noel agrees and he’s concerned about who is responsible, if something bad happens.

“I’m not in favour of allowing the BYOB simply for liability issues.”

In fact all councillors spoke against the provincial initiative.
