Dryden Council Approves 2017/2018 Budget

No tax increase and no reduction in service levels.

Two main highlights in the passing of the 2017-2018 Municipal budget in Dryden.

Council approved the fiscal document Monday night.

Roger Valley joined Mary Trist to vote against the budget.

Valley says the budget doesn’t have enough in it to fix City streets, stressing not enough capital funds were set aside.

He says they have to find ways to generate more revenue.

Valley is also concerned that the City is taking $1.1-million out of reserves to pay for capital work.

The capital budget totals nearly $4.36-million, with a majority of the funds coming from external sources and reserves.

Saying that, he is crediting the Senior Management Team and staff for getting the budget ready for a December approval.

The total operating budget totals just over $28-million.

The budget includes the installation of new entrance signs on Highway 17.

It also provides $3.68-million to pay down the City debt.
