Dryden Council Opting for By-Election

A by-election will be held to replace Dryden Councilor Mike Wood.
Council unanimously voted in favour of the move Wednesday night.
Acting Clerk Debra Kincaid says a bylaw will be brought forward at the February 20th meeting to set a voting date and the nomination process.
Kincaid says after February 20th, anyone can enter the race.
It will be a vote by mail process, with an anticipated May election.
The cost to hold a by-election still hasn’t been determined but could range around the $20,000 mark.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says a by-election is the right move, noting it will be a three year term.
Six potential candidates were in Council Chambers when Council made the decision.
