The ‘Dryden Days of Summer’ are almost upon us!
That’s the name of the new Summer long event in the community.
Suzanne Scherban has been spearheading the initiative with the help of a dedicated group of volunteers and she says special events will be held every Thursday starting on July 4th.
Scherban says they have received City approval to close King Street every Thursday from 3:00-7:00.
She notes the goal is to have businesses, community groups, buskers, musicians, artists and others to set-up shop outside.
Scherban is also encouraging highway businesses to get involved and do something special at their locations.
She says the purpose of the event is for everyone to come together and to help improve the mood in the community.
Some events already planned include a vintage car show on July 11th as well as aboriginal drumming and dancing on August 8th.
Other ideas include a farmers market as well as a the Dryden Fire Demonstration.
Events will also be held along the river at Cooper Park and the Riverview Lodge.
