Dryden Eagles Take Home 2 Golds in NORWOSSA

The Dryden Eagle Girls are ‘Queens of the Court’ as both the Senior and
Junior Volleyball teams captured NORWOSSA Gold in Kenora Thursday.
The Juniors beat the home town Broncos in straight sets (25-14, 25-15, 25-13) thanks to a dominating performance.
Brooke Chasoway says the younger players came up big down the stretch.
The Seniors were pushed to the limit by Fort Frances but in the end
came out with a 5 set victory (24-26, 25-15, 25-19, 21-25, 15-7)
Laura Saar says they were a confident group and the early adversity made them stronger.
The Senior Eagles will now prepare for NWOSSA next week in Thunder Bay.
Both the Juniors and Seniors finished the season with perfect records.
It was a battle all year long in Boys Basketball and Thursday’s NORWOSSA Finals were no different.
The Dryden Eagle Senior team fell to the host Broncos 68-57 in a
physical and emotional affair.
Mike Hanson scored 36 for Dryden but notes it wasn’t their night.
The Juniors got off to a slow start before bowing to Fort Frances 56-30 and Coach Mike Sveinson says the chips didn’t fall in place but notes he’s proud of their effort.
Both clubs are expected to welcome a number of veterans back next year.
