CKDR News is taking an in-depth look this week at the importance of securing a new CT Scan Unit at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Emergency Room Doctor Riaan Bester says a full functioning CT Scan Unit helps save lives.
Bester says the machine helps in early detection and could prevent lifelong catastrophic complications.
He adds it gives physicians timely diagnosis so they can proceed with the appropriate treatment.
Bester says the CT Scan Unit is used in such cases as stroke, cancer detection and severe trauma.
He notes having an on-site machine ensures patients don’t have to travel for treatment and provides an extra incentive for physicians to come and work in Dryden.
