Looks like there will be no casino for the Dryden area.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation set today as the deadline to apply for casino bids in Northwestern Ontario, and there was no word from Dryden.
OLG Spokesperson Tony Bitonti says Kenora was one of the 10 or so communities that made a bid, and now there are a number of factors to consider such as experience and financing.
Bitonti says the OLG will go through all of the bids and then choose between three and five of the best and they will go to the final stage which is the “Request for Proposal”.
He adds although there is additional interest, they are only allowed 29 gaming zones with 24 of them already existing.
Bitonti says the new gaming zones will hopefully generate an additional billion dollars, which will go to the provincial government.
