The Dryden Fire Service is looking at a potential shortage of volunteer firefighters.
Acting Fire Chief Ryan Murrell says they hope to soon launch a recruitment drive in hopes of attracting new members.
Murrell says they will be shortly losing 5 recruits, but warns the retirement number could be in the 10 to 15 range by the New Year or early in 2018.
The average age of a Dryden firefighter is 46-years and the average experience level is 11-years.
He notes there is an urgent need for help during a certain part of the day.
Murrell says Ontario Fire departments are always faced with a shortage of volunteer personnel between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.
He says the void amounts to about 57% of their daily call volume.
Stats show the average duration of a call is about 31-and-a-half minutes.
