Dryden Fire Service Reviewing Open Air Burning Rules

The Dryden Fire Service is looking at strengthening its Open Air Burning regulations.

Chief Kent Readman admits more clarity is needed with the existing rules.

He states there are some changes that can made to make the regulations clearer and easier to understand.

“Both from a public perspective and from the fire department perspective as well. So it is on our list here to work on and we have started the discussions.”

Readman says he will be working with the new Fire Prevention Officer on a new policy.

Councillor Norm Bush asked for a review as an extra layer of protection in the wake of the destructive 2016 Fort McMurray, Alberta fire.

The Fire Service received 26 Open Air Burning Complaints in 2020.
