A new report finds the number of Canadians using food banks has dropped.
But Manager of the Dryden Food Bank Doug Robertson says that’s not really the case here, as their numbers are up from 2012 through the end of July.
He says the numbers from August through October are very much the same as 2012, and there were a couple of points in 2013 that were significantly higher.
The report, which is a 40-page document, also focuses on how food banks can help people who use the service find jobs and affordable housing.
Robertson says they don’t have the staff or tools to get into life skills coaching, but adds that their main priority is helping people in the community.
A little while ago, Robertson contacted the CKDR Newsroom about their need for donations, and he says that since then, the amount of community support has been incredible.
