Staff shortages at the Dryden Arena has forced the cancellation of hockey and the closure of the arena today.
City officials say the arena will be closing at 5 o’clock because of staff shortages.
Games and practices on both ice surfaces won’t be taking place.
Staff cuts aren’t the only factor behind today’s move.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says they had some unexpected staff shortages.
He notes the other two staff are working day shift and can’t work extra hours because their time is way over limit.
Nuttall admits they will have to look at this issue right away and notes the arena is major priority.
Nuttall notes you must be qualified to run the zamboni and they are short on numbers.
Both Dryden Oldtimers and Dryden Girls Minor Hockey were scheduled at the arena throughout the night.
