Dryden Kids Learn About Bus Safety

A first time for a number of Dryden youngster`s this past weekend.
A bunch of kids rode the school bus for the first time at the First Rider Program held Saturday at the Centre.
Dryden Police Constable Kevin Hildebrand and Provincial Police Constable Erin Huckell were there to offer some safety tips. They include arriving 5-minutes early before the school bus arrives, boarding the bus using the handrail, keeping your feet and hands inside the bus, don’t yell across the bus as it distracts the driver and looking both ways before crossing the street after getting off the bus.
For motorists, the fine for not stopping when a school bus has its stop sign out and lights flashing, the fine is $400 and 6-demerit points.
Huckell says if they don’t catch it right away but if a witness gets the licence plate of the vehicle, it’s the owner that gets the ticket.
