The City of Dryden is going to pick up the tab for court fees incurred by the former municipal hydro company.
A court ruled that electricity company late payment rates were too high, and that Dryden’s company owes 78 hundred dollars.
Treasurer Linda McNaughton says the money will come out of the 2011 budget.
The payment is supposed to go towards the United Way, but since Dryden doesn’t have one the City is going to ask to put it towards the local food bank.
If the city isn’t allowed to use the money locally it will go to Toronto’s United Way.
