Dryden Residents Protest Hydro Rates

It was a perfect afternoon for a protest and that’s what some 100 Dryden residents did today.
The group received plenty of support outside the Government building on Highway 17 to protest the soaring price of hydro.
Organizer Denise Carruthers says local residents are fed up with rising prices.
Carruthers says families are forced to choose between buying grocery’s or keeping the lights on.
The group called for an end of delivery charges and demanded rates comparable to other provinces.
Carruthers says delivery charges are equal too or more than the hydro being used.
She notes throw in the HST, debt-retirement charges and regulatory charges, and people are left without any change in their purse.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell took part in the protest.
