Dryden Rotarian Receives Major Award

A great honour for a member of the Rotary Club of Dryden.

Rotarian Brian Kenny has received the Retired Teachers of Ontario 2020 Outstanding Leadership Award for his work with the group.

Kenny says the award was a big surprise to him.

“I’m very, very appreciative of my district, 35 in Dryden, for nominating me. The award came with a donation of a thousand dollars, to any charity of my choosing and I’ve chosen the Dryden Food Bank.”

Before retiring, Kenny was a teacher at Dryden High School.

In his 21 years with RTO, Kenney has been Political Advocacy Chair, been a delegate Senate four times and was further appointed to the provincial Political Advocacy committee for four years, just to name a few achievements.

“I really think that one of the big things that helped me win this award, is my belonging to the Rotary Club of Dryden. It’s very important to me, being a part of this club.”

Rotarian Mardi Plomp explains, Kenny exemplifies Rotary’s purpose of ‘Service Above Self.’

“According to Brian, his 21 years has been a labour of happiness. Brian has taught the old guard and the new guard retirees, the importance of the Retired Teachers of Ontario and how valuable volunteering can be for all of us.”
