More than 200 elementary students from Grade 4 to 8 laced up their sneakers and took to the trails last Friday in the 9th annual Turkey trot race.
At the end of the day, Dryden’s Open Roads School took home overall honours with their first victory as a combined school.
Sarah Urquhart set a blistering course record of 13:14 in the junior girls division ahead of Payton Zilkans and Maddison Lambert.
The Junior boys were led by Adam West, Graham Oliphant and Tyler Costello.
The Intermediate Girls were led by Leah Balla, Alexandra Cooper and Celena Brosseau, while the Intermediate boys were paced by Devon Caren, Nick Ford and Zack Lugli.
Some of these runners will travel to Minnesota next week and to Thunder Bay later in the month to take on the region at the Mid-Canada championships in Thunder Bay.
