Dryden Senator Being Asked To Stand Up Against Bill-51

A northwestern Ontario senator is being urged to speak out against Bill-51.

Dryden’s Lynn Beyak sits on the senate committee looking at the new legislation dealing with national security.

Kenora lawyer Peter Kirby has been an outspoken opponant of the bill and says Beyak should her fellow senators asking that faults in the legislation be fixed.

Kirby says he has written the senate about his concerns but hasn’t heard anything back from Beyak, despite the fact that some of the issues he’s raised are shared by most of the 38 witnesses who appeared before the Senate committee.

He adds that the legislation is a sweeping bill that will violate the privacy of Canadians.

Kirby is asking local residents to write to Beyak about their concerns and to fix Bill-51.
