Dryden Taking A Close Look At Capital Work

Still a lot of work to do for City of Dryden departments.

Staff and officials continues to wrestle with the 2016 budget and capital needs.

City Manager John Cummings says initial requests came in at $8-million but he notes this must be trimmed down to $1.5 or $2-million at the most.

$1.5-million for capital work has also been earmarked for 2017.

Cummings says projects needing to meet regulatory or health and safety standards and those that directly impact service levels will receive high priority.

He’s encouraging staff to push for external funds and innovative thinking.

Cummings is also asking them to partner with other agencies and organizations.

He adds Council has directed staff to maintain the status quo with the tax rate.
