The Dryden Trillium Lions Club is trying to take a bite out of the high costs of raising and securing a guide dog.
The 5th Annual Walk for Dog Guides is being held Sunday at Cooper Park, with registration for the one mile walk at 12:30.
Organizer Susan Pollock was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday and she says there will be a charity barbeque at 11:30.
Pollock says the pet friendly event is open to the entire community.
She notes the price tag to raise a specialized canine for one person in need is in the range of $25,000.
Pollock says individual dogs could be trained in a number of areas including vision, autism, seizure response and diabetes alert.
