Drydenites will be facing a municipal tax increase for 2002 – but the question is how much?
Councillors and administrators seemed to have narrowed down the range to between 5 and 30 percent.
Most councillors agree that a 30 percent tax increase is unacceptable.
But given downloading costs, lower industrial tax rates as well as municipal levy increases for recycling, the health unit and the home for the aged, city councillors have no choice but to raise taxes.
Council is also looking to move ahead with a number of much-needed capital projects.
