A long standing streak making the playoffs has come to an end for the Dryden Eagles Boys High School Hockey team.
A short handed Eagles team left it all on the ice in a bid to keep their post-season hopes alive, but it will be the Queen Elizabeth Warriors retuning to the playoffs with a 3-2 win Tuesday night.
The Warriors capitalized on their opportunities in the first jumping out to a 3-0 lead on only 8 shots with goals from Kendall Schulz, Cortez Favot and Royden Spence.
Dryden rebounded with goals from Tanner Henderson and Nathan Ho, but late injuries to Cale Overb, Brent Pollard and Collin Lapointe hampered the comeback attempt.
The Eagles outshot the Warriors 34-24.
In other NorWOSSA action, the Red Lake Rams fell to visiting Beaver Brae 10-4, while Fort Frances downed St. Thomas Aquinas 5-1.
In Girls play, the Dryden Eagles outlasted the Queen Elizabeth Warriors 4-1 in Sioux Lookout.
The Warriors remain tied with Beaver Brae for the final playoff spot, while the Eagles are guaranteed to move on.
