Eagles Get A Taste Of Game Action

The Dryden Eagles are ready for a new Winnipeg High School Football season.

The ‘Blue and Gold’ held a series of mini-exhibition games Thursday at the Rotary Park Soccer complex.

The competition was stiff as the Eagles played against arch-rival Beaver Brae, the Churchill Trojans from Thunder Bay and ‘AAA’ Grant Park out of Winnipeg.

Offensive Line Coach Rob Rodgers says the scrimmage gave their young kids a taste of game action and competing at a high level.

Rodgers says it was great to get some hits in.

He says the new players adjusted well throughout the games, despite some early struggles.

However, Rodgers notes they learned a lot and their performance bolds well for the rest of the season.

Rodgers was most impressed with his players willingness to “stick their head in and compete”.

The Eagles open the season for real Friday, September 9th in Winnipeg against the St. John’s Tigers.
