The English River Miners open a new SIJHL season this weekend with training camp in Vermilion Bay.
There will be several new faces who will take part in the three day session at the Woodland Arena.
Coach and GM Derek Sweet-Coulter begins his second tenure with the Miners and stresses this is an exciting time of the year.
Sweet-Coulter says he’s got guys coming in from all over the country.
He says a heavy emphasis during the off-season was solving their offensive woes from last year.
Sweet-Coulter believes they have met that need and he will be looking for scoring and creative plays from his kids starting Friday.
He adds building team chemistry and getting players into game shape are other priorities.
Sweet-Coulter says he will also start looking at possible line combinations.
The camp ends Sunday with a ‘Black and Gold’ inter-squad game at 11 o’clock.
