Megan Wismer almost stole two points from the Dryden Eagles.
The Eagles spent much of the entire game at the OFSAA Girls Hockey Championship opener trying to solve the General Amherst goalie.
Finally in the second period Darra Zieroth knocked one home with some hard work from Leah Balla and Elizabeth Carter to score the games only goal.
Wismer finished with 37-saves, most high quality stops.
Jacquie Grandmont was solid when she had to be making 14-stops.
Dryden is 1-0 and plays two games Tuesday.
In other Pool ‘D’ play, #13th ranked Timmins stunned #4th ranked Jean Vanier 4-0.
Dryden plays Jean Vanier Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and Timmins at 5:45.
Other NorWOSAA teams in action; Fort Frances defeated McKinnon Park 5-2 in a sloppy game, while Beaver Brae was rocked 13-0 by St. Michaels.
