Ear Falls Bear Attack Update

We are finding out more about an incident last week in which a Minnesota man was attacked by a black bear on Highway 105 near Ear Falls.

Police were first told the victim was 6 metres from the animal with his video camera when it charged.

However, when Ministry of Natural Resources Bear Specialist Jolanta Kowalski viewed the tape, she discovered the man was feeding the animal M&M’s by hand.

The bear got upset when the man ran out of the tasty candy and charged at him.

Kowalski adds that was the second bear the man tried to feed in the day.

The tourist suffered some scratches and puncture wounds while the bear had to be destroyed.
