Early Problems For New Gold Now Corrected

Some early difficulties for New Gold at its Rainy River mine.

The company says they encountered problems at the processing facility that led to lower than expected gold recoveries over the past three months.

President Hannes Portmann says they anticipate that to improve as they have corrected all of the issues.

Portmann says they are already starting to see some more positive momentum, with gold recovery improving over 87% since April 23rd.

He adds they’re also looking at a 15% increase in the amount of ore processed to 24,000 tonnes.

Portmann says they are able to achieve a processing rate right now of about 22,500-tonnes per day.
