Early Smoke Alarm Call At St. Charles Street

It’s a story to remind people to always keep and maintain their smoke alarms. On Tuesday Morning at 2:30 am, Dryden volunteer firefighters responded to a 911 call at a St. Charles Street apartment in relation to a smoke alarm sounding. After forcing entry, fire crews found a pot burning on the stove and the fire was put out. One adult was found sleeping in a bedroom and was taken away without injury. Fire crews ventilated heavy smoke from the apartment with a fan, and all occupants were able to return to their units after about thirty minutes outside. Dryden Fire Service says the working smoke alarm and the quick action of other tenants prevented the situation from getting much worse nd probably saved a life.
