ELA Deal Only An Interim One

The Minister of Natural Resources is cautioning that an agreement to keep the Experimental Lakes Area open is only an interim one.
David Orazietti says he’s hoping to secure a long term agreement but notes the Federal Government must stick to its earlier commitments.
Orazietti says transitional agreements need to be secured.
He notes the province is concerned about the “legacy costs” of keeping the ELA open.
The province has committed 2-million dollars a year to keep scientific research going at the Vermilion Bay area facility.
Orazietti adds he looks forward to working with the Federal Government on reaching a long term deal.
