Emergency Exercise Is Finished

A disruption in Dryden this afternoon as TransCanada conducted an emergency exercise.
The south end of Scott Street and the north end of Theil Road and Leach Road were closed for a short period of time as local emergency responce agencies were on scene.
TransCanada Spokesperson Grady Semmens says they were simulating a multi-vehicle crash that damaged a pipeline.
Semmens says one thing that many people don’t know is that the main cause of incidents on pipelines is people who are doing digging near a pipeline and haven’t gone through a “Call Before You Dig” program.
Safety is a huge priority for TransCanada, as Semmens adds they like to do this training once a year.
