The Dryden Fire Service is on the receiving end of $5,000 in funding from Union Gas.
Fire Chief Ken Kurz says they were drawn randomly from over 100-volunteer fire departments across the province.
Kurz says the money will be used to purchase training equipment.
He says they will look at what they need, and will hopefully have the equipment in their hands by January 2014.
Meantime, Kurz says firefighter training is transitioning from a provincial to a national standard, so the money comes at a perfect time.
