Emergency Landing At Thunder Bay Airport

Some tense moments at the Thunder Bay Airport.

Manager Ed Schmidtke says there was an emergency landing Monday morning just before 9 o’clock eastern.

He says an Air Canada Airbus 320 was diverted to Thunder Bay because of smoke in the cockpit.

Emergency personnel and fire fighters, were on stand-by to watch the aircraft land safely, and no one was hurt.

Schmidtke indicates the plane had no passengers on board because it was flying from Toronto to Winnipeg to be put into service.

The plane remains on the tarmac as Air Canada technicians figure out what happened.
