EMO Still Monitoring Water Levels In Kasabonika

Emergency Management Ontario says flooding on a remote northwestern Ontario First Nation appears worse than previous years.
Kasabonika Lake First Nation remains under a state of emergency as water levels on the lake it sits on continued to rise.
A partial evacuation of the First Nation has taken place, with about 150 vulnerable residents and their caregivers taken to Hearst and Greenstone.
Allison Stuart of Emergency Management Ontario says because it’s a pretty isolated area, the ability to monitor water flow is limited.
Officials say measures have been taken to protect the community’s sewage and water treatment plants.
The access road to the one bridge to get off the island is submerged.
The First Nation has asked inspectors from the Ministry of Transportation to take a look at the bridge to ensure it remains stable.
