Employees At Northern Youth Center Agree To New Contract

Employees of the WJS Northern Youth Center and the Northern Regional Attendance Centers in the region have reached a new four year agreement with Unifor.

About 24 employees voted unanimously in favour of the new contract, which includes a 2.5 percent wage increase in each year of the deal.

It also provides increased mileage pay, an extra week of paid vacation, additional pay for clothing and meal allowances and language improvements.

The deal runs until March 31st, 2022 and affects employees at Attendance Centers in Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Dryden as well as employees at an open custody youth facility northwest of Kenora.
