Encouraging Results for Health Unit

A clean financial bill of health for the board of the Northwestern Health Unit.
The 2001 auditor’s report states the board may not have a lot of money to work with, but the money it does have is spent wisely.
The report looked at finances, not the effectiveness of the board.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield, Chief Medical Officer of Health says the board is happy with the report, however he stresses the need for more provincial funding.
Sarsfield says because of the funding shortfall, the Health Unit can’t offer a number of programs.
Total revenue and expenditures were down about 200-thousand dollars from the year before.
