As the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board gets ready to welcome new trustees, five members of the current board are saying goodbye.
The Board and staff recognized outgoing trustees at Tuesday night’s open meeting in Dryden.
An emotional tribute was given to the late George Seaton, who provided 40-years of service.
His wife accepted a gift on George’s behalf.
Dave Wilkinson, Lesley Barnes and Michelle Guitard were also thanked for their service.
The meeting was also the final one Chaired by Dave Penney.
Penney spent 15-consecutive years as Chair and was with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board and old Dryden Board of Education for 33-years.
Penney says it’s hard to leave and it was a difficult decision but notes it’s time for a new challenge.
He is now trying his hand at municipal politics as a Councilor in Ignace.
Penney stresses the board is in good hands with a strong team of trustees and great staff.
