Energy Group Adds To Concerns Over The End Of Energy East

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says a change in thinking is needed in our country on future oil and gas projects.

President Tim McMillan is expressing extreme disappointment in the cancellation of the Energy East Pipeline.

McMillan stresses we are failing to capitalize on our resources and opportunities to help the Canadian economy.

He says the TransCanada project would have done wonders to help the national economy.

McMillan notes if people were confronted at the pumps that they were burning Nigerian fuel, then they might be more inclined to champion Canadian-made energy projects.

McMillan adds in our 150th year, Canada has seen a number of natural gas facilities, who have been very invested in our country, instead step away and not do business in Canada.

He questions if Canada is really open for business, stressing projects like Energy East don’t come around every year.

It’s estimated that the project would have created 9,200 construction jobs and 900 other jobs, including a handful in northwestern Ontario for pipeline upgrades.
