Energy Minister Hoping To Have Hydro Rate Cuts Moved Through Quickly

Don’t expect to see savings on your hydro bill overnight.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says the planned 25% cut to rates across the board still needs the final stamp of approval.

Thibeault says they are hoping to act as quickly as possible and plan to introduce legislation in the next few weeks.

He is hoping the opposition doesn’t stall its approval.

Thibeault says he wants to see the reductions on the bill in place by the Summer.

He notes the summer period is when hydro rates are at their highest and it becomes more difficult to make ends meet.
