Energy Needs For Northwestern Ontario

Continuing to meet the electricity needs of Northwestern Ontarians.
Work continues on converting the Atikokan Generating Station from using coal to biomass, and a new transmission line is underway between Thunder Bay and Wawa.
Vice President of Power System Planning with the Ontario Power Authority Amir Shalaby says things are booming.
He says they plan to supply and secure reliable power for the mines that plan to open and to increase production in mines near Dryden and in other areas of the Northwest.
The Atikokan Generating Station will be the largest plant operating on wood pellets in the world.
