Environmental Pat On The Back For School Board

Another environment accomplishment for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
Five schools, including Dryden High School and the Golden Learning Centre in Balmertown, have attained Ontario EcoSchools Certification.
Board Spokesperson Kathy Boone says the honour recognizes the work that has been done this year.
Boone notes students and teachers have been instrumental in taking on their own environmental initiatives.
She’s calling the public school board a “green leader”.
Boone notes the Board was one of the first in Ontario to develop an environmental policy to guide operations and the curriculum.
EcoSchool certification looks at energy conservation, waste management, ecological literacy and school ground greening.
Other schools recognized include Beaver Brae High School, Lakewood and Upsala.
