A step in the right direction on the road to recovery for the tourism industry in northwestern Ontario.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says the reopening of the border to fully vaccinated Americans is good news and increases opportunities for outfitters.
However, Melillo notes there’s a lot of confusion on the border right now.
“It’s just important moving forward that federal government works with the US government and works with the Biden administration to ensure, between our two countries, we have a consistent and coherent at the border,” says Melillo.
He adds the industry won’t see a full rebound this year and stresses more supports are needed.
“A huge priority for me and our party moving forward, especially as things continue to reopen and as our focus has been shifting towards an economic recovery,”
The U.S. government is not allowing non-essential travel for Canadians at this time.
