Thunder Bay’s Eric Staal will lead Canada into the world hockey championship.
The Carolina Hurricanes forward has been named captain.
Staal skated on the last Canadian team to win a world title in 2007.
He’s also the lone player on the roster with an Olympic gold and a Stanley Cup.
Canada opens the World Championship tomorrow morning in Sweden against Denmark.
